What we asked, who we asked, and what it means for you

### Who took part in this research?

We surveyed 40 Turkish learners who are actively trying to improve their English through apps, courses, films and AI tools. Responses were collected through an open-ended questionnaire in June 2026.

### Why do so many learners prefer an AI language tutor?

The clearest finding was emotional, not technical. Learners are afraid of being judged when they speak, so a patient AI language tutor that never judges them feels safer. Cost and round-the-clock availability were the next most common reasons.

### What is the biggest obstacle to speaking a new language?

Fear of making mistakes, pronunciation anxiety and forgetting words under pressure came up most often. For many learners the knowledge is already there, but the confidence to use it is not.

### Is AI really better than a human teacher?
