IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is an English proficiency test run jointly by the British Council, IDP and Cambridge. It has four sections: Listening (about 30 minutes, 40 questions), Reading (60 minutes, 40 questions), Writing (60 minutes, two tasks) and Speaking (11 to 14 minutes, face to face with an examiner). Results are given in half bands from 0 to 9. Academic is required for university applications abroad, General Training for migration and work.
